The Bulls are proven to be a one-of-a-kind type of teams. The defense Tom Thibodeau has instilled in his players has made the Bulls a nightmare to play against. On most nights, the Bulls have the edge because of their defense and extremely deep bench. However, with all the success, what is the biggest edge Chicago attains?
The biggest edge Chicago has can be summed up in two word: big guys. The main reason for the Bulls great defense is because each player knows where they should be, Kyle Korver and Carlos Boozer are starting to catch on too. The Bulls big guys are a big part of their solid defense, they can clog the paint and force the offense to take tough contested shots. Guys like Taj Gibson and Omer Asik have been brought in for the sole purpose of their amazing shot blocking ability and solid defense. Also, Joakim Noah has improved his defense greatly since his rookie year. The one minor hiccup with the Bulls big guys is Carlos Boozer, the guy who pretends he is a statue when it comes to defense. Guys like to attack Boozer because of his poor defensive abilities, yet Bulls are still one of the best defensive teams in the paint. Chicago is not the only team that knows how to play defense. In fact, teams like the Sixers and Spurs and Memphis have main success from there defense like the Bulls. The one thing that separates the Bulls from any other team is the depth in big guys that they have. The Bulls have multiple sets of big guys, whether they are on the bench or on the court ready to play their hearts out. If Chicago wins the championship this year, don't be surprised to see the box score having the rebound comparison lopsided in the Bulls favor.
