I am one of those annoying people who takes 10,000 photos and videos everywhere I go. It started before EK entered the world, but it clearly has gotten a zillion times worse since he started harassing us on the daily.
So what do you do with all of those 12 second snippets of video? Well, I like to assemble them in a generally nonsensical fashion and slap some music into the video to try to tie it together. Then, I watch them and cry. I know, gross.
But here's the problem, what music do you include with your home videos? If you are an audiophile who loves your kid, you listen to whatever obscure music you pride yourself in finding and file that song away in your big ole fancy brain. Or if you are like me, you Google and listen to lots of weird stuff, read the lyrics to make sure they aren't too creepy and then buy that sucker.
You know what songs most often show up for "kid video montage music" (yes, I know I am UBER creative in my searches)? In my very subjective opinion, predicable songs. That's what. E.g., Rascal Flatts - My Wish, Smashmouth - All Star, Bob Carlisle - Butterfly Kisses, Celine Dion - A Mother's Prayer, Rod Stewart- Forever Young
I know a lot of people LOVE these songs, but they aren't my bag. So if you are in the market for some nice songs a la Spoon, The Black Keys, Gipsy Kings, etc. check out my Spotify list below. If you are into it, hover your cursor on the right side of the list to scroll through. And let's be honest, you don't have to have kiddos to jam out to these memory pops.
Hope your earholes are happy! And, if the mood strikes you, please forward along any suggestions - a movie a month calls for a lot of music. Follow me on Spotify by clicking the playlist above or share songs from Spotify via Facebook.
