75 healthier food items you can eat at Taste of Chicago

With Taste of Chicago just around the corner, it's nice to know that you don't have to chow down on stuff you'll feel guilty about when you get home. Thanks in part to the Humana Healthier Choices program, there will be 75 healthier food items from 29 restaurants, which represents about 40 percent of the restaurants at this year's Taste.

The Healthier Choices food items can be identified by a green "H" on the restaurants' menu boards. (I assume the "H" stands for healthy, but I'm sure it's not lost on company officials that Humana also starts with an 'H.")

All restaurants participating in the 2016 Taste of Chicago were invited to submit their menu items. For an item to be considered for the program, each restaurant had to reveal nutritional details, including calories, sodium content, saturated fat and the list of ingredients. A panel of five top Chicago-area physicians and nutrition experts with expertise in diet and nutrition judged each item to assure that nutritional values were met.

Below are the healthier food choices you'll find at this year's Taste Of Chicago. The (V) stands for vegetarian.
