Get yourself over to what will most likely be the most delicious fete of the year! The French Pastry School and the Merchandise Mart are hosting "For the Love of Chocolate" at the Mart this Saturday, February 5, from 7 p.m.- 11 p.m. Surely, the blizzard will be over by then!

The annual gala promises "Cocoa Cuisine," with a complete dinner prepared by celebrity chefs. More than 50 top chefs will be cooking for the event, including Rick Bayless, Graham Elliot Bowles and Paul Kahan. Expect both savory and sweet treats.

The extravaganza also features: a full chocolate bar, with desserts and confections from the best pastry chefs and chocolatiers in Chicago and beyond, as well as live music, belly dancing and a Cocoa Candyland where human candy canes, lollilops, jelly beans and chocolate bars will be dancing among the guests.

The For the Love of Chocolate Foundation provides scholarships for qualified students training in the pastry arts.

The event is $200 per person. Although it's a black-tie affair, men are welcome to come in a suit and tie.

  • Chef Paddy & I went there as guests a few summers ago at the School. Overwhelmingly great. We needed bigger stomachs.
