There’s an ad campaign for Miller Lite that encourages guys to “man up” to drink Miller Lite.
Now it seems that there’s a wine company that think some mothers just have it too hard. The wine is called “Mommy’s Time Out.” Apparently, it’s “just the thing” for mommies who can’t deal with the struggles of being a “mommy” – seemingly pedicures, soccer games and whining kids.
Motherhood, let alone parenthood, is not an easy job. Period.
But really, “Mommy’s Time Out?” Sounds to me an awful lot like the Rolling Stone’s “Mother’s Little Helper…” Remember, just going running for the shelter of your mother’s little helper…. Wanna bet it wasn’t white wine?
It’s a bit of a joke that this company sees fit to market a wine to “mommies” who need a “time out…” I can’t help but wonder if the company markets to mothers who really need a ‘time out’.
May be the folks in product development should take a look at single moms who work two jobs, or military moms, or moms who are widowed because their husband, a police officer, was gunned down in the line of duty, or moms who have lost a son or daughter in the line of duty.
There’s probably a reason they don’t market to those moms – it’s not cute or profitable. Instead, let’s draw from the market base in the suburbs where mommies can sashay from the spa to Starbucks to lunch and, if time permits, home for some quality time with their kids. Goodness – after such a hard time, they’ll need a time out – with a bottle of wine.
Afterall, according to the company’s web site:
“…We All know that being a Mommy is a difficult job. A Mommy's Time Out is a well deserved break. These wines are delicate and fruity. They come from some of the finest vineyards in Italy where the best grapes are vinified, resulting in a long lasting finish. They are a great complement to food, or may be served as an aperitif.”
You’d think that if a company really wanted to give mom’s a break, they would, as I noted above, focus on the moms who not only need a break, but deserve one as well.
But that would make too much sense.

ALL moms need a break!
Wow... That's kind of a funny name once or twice, but i can imagine the humor will wear quickly.
