This Friday: "Pour" Features Tastings, Toy Drive For Children In Need

I got the idea to name an event "Pour" for a few reasons.   I love to attend tastings, and I love the idea of combining what I love to actually bring awareness to a number of causes.

Originally named "Wine For A Cause" two years ago we held a drive for wish list items for Connections For Abused Women and Their Children. We collected nearly 300 items that night.   Since then the re-branded "Pour" has raised funds, built awareness or collected items for a number of large and small charities including: Habitat For Humanity, No Wooden Nickels, The Gridiron Alliance and Advocate for Adolescent Mothers.  What was intended to be a once a year event is now quarterly.

The fun about "Pour" is that it has expanded beyond wine tasting. We now include cocktails , desserts, and sometimes a chef  will make something special for the event.

The next "Pour" will take place this Friday at Phoenix Gallery (1829 South Halsted) . Owner Jennifer Bridgeforth continues to want to make an impact in the community and we are happy to team with her. The event will be a Toy Drive for One Hope United.

"Pour" will feature a tasting of cocktails by St. Claire Green Tea Vodka.  The fast growing brand has been featured at tastings around chicago and you can find it's cocktails  on the menus of Wildfire, Brazzaz , Coco, Close Up 2 and many more. Tastings of the unique alcohol infused cupcakes of Guilty Pleasurez . Owner Tracey Glover has created a unique combination of sweets and spirits.

Our Charity

One Hope United protects vulnerable children from child abuse or neglect, strengthens their families, and prepares children for a prosperous future. We are an accredited, not-for-profit human service organization that provides a diverse array of high-quality prevention, intervention, counseling and child development programs. We impact tens of thousands of children and families each year through community-based programs in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Florida.

What started as a guilty pleasure has become a labor of love that will continue this Friday.
