My good friend Andra Munteanu is determined to teach me all about Romanian culture. With good reason she is the head of the Chicago Romanian Cultural Exchange. Her story is quite interesting as she came to this country, got her advanced degree and has made her mark educating people on Romanian culture and supporting her countrymen and women adjust to life in Chicago. Once of the organization's big annual events is the Romanian Film Fest starting this Friday at Dank Haus 4740 North Western Ave.
In its 4th year, the event draws the highest population of people with Romanian heritage in the Mid-West, and hundreds of film lovers. The Romanian Community in Chicago alone accounts for over 100,000 people. The event will include an opening cocktail party to honor lead Romanian film industry players and our elite sponsors.
As the L.A. Times quotes, "Romanians can't make a bad film. It's like, illegal in their country." We invite you to join the Romanian community, and foreign film enthusiasts alike in discovering the cinematic phenomenon that left a fierce impression on film festivals all over the world. Help ROCX make that impact in Chicago.
All screenings will run with English subtitles.
