It pays not to sweat the small stuff ... literally, with a free Starbucks

Me to barista: Grande Skinny Hazelnut Latte
Barista: That'll be $4.49.

Me (to myself): Almost $5? That's insane! I'm a Dunkin Donuts girl ($2.20) but I was in the mood for something hazelnut. It reminds me of my niece. She loves nutella. And it's cold out and DD is far whereas there's a Starbucks on my (and every) corner.

A few minutes later ~

Drink making barista: Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte.
Me: Hazelnut?
Drink making barista: Oh. No. Sorry.

He takes it back.

Me (to myself): He's making another one? Aren't there starving - or caffeine deprived - kids somewhere? And ... it's not that big of a deal.

Me: Excuse me. It's OK!  It's still a skinny, right?
Drink making barista: Yeah but are you sure?
Me: Yeah Yeah Yeah. It's fine.
Drink making barista: Wait!

He runs to the cash register.  He comes back and hands me something.

Drink making barista: This is for a free drink next time.  Sorry about that.

In the spirit of Roses, here's to ~

1/ Skinny Vanilla Lattes you didn't order.
2/ Thinking 'It's not that big of a deal. Could anything be 'smaller' than a cup of coffee?!' (Aside from the price.)
3/ And being instantly rewarded for not sweating said super small stuff.
Looking forward to my free Skinny Hazelnut Latte today!
