Columbus Day Gratitude

In the spirit of Stop and Blog the Roses, here's to Christopher Columbus. Nice find! Thank you, sir.

Whether or not you believe he did what they say he did - good or bad or both - we may never know but he did something, that led to a chain of events, that led to my ancestors coming here, that led to me sitting here right now, at this moment, in the beautiful new world, in the land of opportunity.  And, for that, I'm grateful.

I like how the History Channel puts it: Columbus discovered America and proved that the earth was round. Except that's not quite how it happened, which isn't to say we don't have plenty to thank him for ...

Thank you, Christopher! And, Happy Columbus Day to all of my fellow Italian Americans!

And, if you're in the market for a birthday gift ~ or a gift for yourself ~ why not give the gift of gratitude? The non-calendar version of Roses, the book, is now available on Amazon here. Check out the 'Look Inside' feature to see what it's all about.
