Well, that's what I hope for you.
If you haven't clicked, maybe you'd like to know more about me and Roses. Well, I'm a Manhattanite via Jersey (woot! woot!) now living in beautiful Chicago with my husband. I'm 100% Italian American and an avid reader, eater and runner. I'm also a CPA and lawyer turned writer/reporter/blogger.
A couple of years ago, being a former lawyer and all, it seemed a natural fit that I be ChicagoNow's "Bar-tender." So, I went to the Cook County courthouse every day and reported on all the wacky cases filed. "Elderly Woman Sues Statue for Sexual Harassment" You know, that sort of thing.
But, before long, I decided I wanted to be the kind of journalist who is, how shall we say "Less Jerry, More O." You understand.
And, so, Roses was born. I returned from H and my honeymoon, task in hand. From June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011, I would record 3 things I was grateful for. I would blog the roses every. single. day.
And, I did! Check out my 365th entry.
And, Roses still continues with at least 5 entries/ month. Hopefully, with more entries about other people and their experiences and even some guest entries (Interested? Find me @FernRonay)
Now, if you look at the list of of other Lifestyle/Family blogs in the running for CBS Chicago's Most Valuable Blogger Award, you will see there's (*cue Sesame Street music) one that doesn't belong.
No, I'm not a mommy blog (nothing against mommies. I have one. She's fabulous.) and I'm not a fashion blog (nothing against clothes. I have a ton. Some of them, if I may say, are fabulous.) but I'm a blog that is a lot of things ~
- a married, ahem, 30-something reflecting on adventures past and what I learned
- a city girl experiencing the joy, frustration, irony, hilarity of city life
- some days I'm very zen
- some days I'm
your average spoiled American, very impatient, kind of nuts, maybe even scary not so zen
I think I'm like you.
I also think perspective is a wonderful thing, a lost art. Yes, Virginia, there is something to be grateful for every single day.
It really is a wonderful, useful exercise. It is, dare I say, valuable?
So, there you have it. I hope you enjoy reading! And, I hope you'll vote. [Here you go. Just one click. Oh, thank you thank you thank you!]
Today, I am grateful ~
1/to the fellow blogger who nominated me (who wishes to remain anonymous at this time but I was shocked and flattered and annoyingly giddy like a schoolgirl)
2/that CBS Chicago picked Roses for the finals
3/that there is still time to vote!
