On this day in 1959

I have to admit I'm not living in the moment. My thoughts are in the future. And, they're not that deep.
I'm just really looking forward to ~
1/ warmer weather and
2/ running along the lake and eating outdoors and my spring/summer wardrobe

But, I'm trying to appreciate today (cold, indoor today, but today) like this man says.

3/ And, I'm grateful that I saw him at Lehigh University in 2008 when he held up an oblong shaped, thick set of papers and said he fled Tibet with this ancient book (The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment by The Lamrim Chenmo) in March 1959.  On March 31, 1959, he crossed the border into India.

He has said "Happiness is determined more by the state of one's mind than by one's
external conditions, circumstances or events."

State of mind. State of mind. State of mind, I think, as I put on my down coat.

Footnote: The Dalai Lama has never lived in Chicago.
