~ If she were alive, she'd be 93 today.
~ On October 30, 1938, she was washing windows on the 2nd floor of her parents' house in Newark, New Jersey when she heard the CBS radio broadcast of War of the Worlds and thought it was real and almost fell out the window.
~ She married my grandfather on April 29, 1941. He was drafted one month later. They didn't see each other again for 4 1/2 years.
~ When my grandfather did finally come home, he surprised her in the middle of the night. She was wearing a mud mask. But, as she said, she didn't care, she couldn't stop kissing him.
~ She was born Vincenzina and, when she was young, everyone called her Jenny.
Today, I am grateful ~
1/ That my grandmother was here for as long as she was
2/ For her funny stories
3/ And all of her outrageous costume jewelry...that I wear almost everyday.
