Today is National Watermelon Day! Oddly enough, I am reminded of an ex-boyfriend...

Me: What's your favorite fruit?

Him: Uhhh, a pear.

Me (visibly disgusted):  A pear? A PEAR?!  If you could have any fruit in the world, you would pick a pear?  What about all of the summer fruits - strawberries, peaches, watermelon, mangoes, nectarines, cherries, blackberries, blueberries, pineapple?  How boring can you be?

Too harsh?  I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who has ever ended a relationship over fruit.
Am I?

But, the truth is, I was subconsciously tapping into something beyond pears - like our major differences - I wanted to be swung around on the dance floor; he wanted to hold up the wall.
Today, I am grateful ~

1/ For all I learned from my many, many, many, many exes ~ mostly about myself.

2/ That even though H's favorite fruit is oranges (Can you hear me now?  Oranges?!  You can get an orange any day of the year!), he'll still swing me on the dance floor if I feel like it.

3/ For watermelon martinis, which usually leads to aforementioned desire to be swung around on the dance floor.
