A Mom on the phone: Maggie, we never said you could have boys over. I don't care if you already invited them. They're not allowed.
The Dad, takes phone from the Mom: Maggie, we said no boys. That's final. Make other plans.
Mom, takes phone back: Put your grandmother on the phone.
Mom, to Grandma: I don't care, Ma. She knows we wouldn't agree to this. She can have her girl friends over but no boys.
H texts me: If they continue to make boys taboo, Maggie will be the biggest slut in town.
Good point. I'm guessing Maggie is between 12 and 14. I'm also guessing their house has a finished basement. That's usually where nothing good happens in middle school and high school.
Today, I am grateful ~
1/ For New Kids on the Block. These girls today don't know what they're missing. That Justin Bieber kid has nothing on Donnie Wahlberg!
2/ That people have conversations like the above while on trains and in restaurants and in elevators, providing endless amusement for H and me. Mostly me.
3/ That I was too shy to invite boys over when I was Maggie's age. I realize now that is something to be grateful for.
