Someone who has known you since you were both 2 years old also knows
that you slept with a blanket called your "Miney" and that it was
actually a pillow sham.
And that you had a Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox and sleeping bag. And she knows who the first boy was that you kissed.
And
she helped set up your dorm room on the first day of college. And made
the cupcake tower for your wedding. And bossed the maitr'd around
while you were busy greeting guests.
This weekend, while G and her husband B were visiting, The Legend of Billie Jean was on. Coincidence? I think not. I like to think of it as a wink from G0d. G0d was toasting us.
He
was saying "Here's to G and Jen and all long friendships. Sometimes,
they teach you things. Sometimes, you teach them things. Most of the
time, you learn things together - big things, yes, and lots of small
things, like how to swim without nose plugs."
Today, I am grateful ~
1/ That G & B came to Chicago to visit us this weekend. It was their first time here and they loved it (of course!)
2/ That we all saw the Stanley Cup together. We'll be talking about this one for years.
3/ For G, my oldest and dearest friend. Period.
