Tree House Humane Society Groundbreaking

Here it is - today, images and plans are real. A year from now, a new building....a facility to offer the latest of what we know about keeping cats healthy and happy, and therefore more adoptable. There will be no shelter like it
Tree House Humane Society, a no kill cat shelter on Chicago’s north side, has a long history of being the first. And a new history is about to begin. June 2 marked the ground breaking and construction start at the new location, 7225 N. Western Avenue in West Rogers Park. Here highlights from this great event, a game-changer... Read more »

Bob Fioretti: Discusses Issues with Pet Owners

Several spoke about their concerns regarding Chicago Animal Care & Control. Alderman Fioretti listened patiently, and was surprised to hear some of what goes on there (as would be other Aldermen). Additional resources will go toward Chicago Animal & Control when he is Mayor. He will create an independent panel of experts (outside politics) to offer recommendations to increase professionalism within city departments, including this one. And work in the direction of a no kill city, which he believes may be accomplished. The more humanely we treat animals in the city, the more humanely we treat one another. The fewer animals euthanized, the more money saved, and of course, the more animals saved.
Alderman Bob Fioretti, clearly a pet lover, greeted dogs and the people attending the first ever city-wide discussion of companion animal issues. I was honored to moderate the event. Here’s an overview:   Type your email address in the box and click the “create subscription” button. My list is completely spam free, and you can... Read more »

Tree House Humane Society offers a solution to deal with the exploding rat problem in Chicago…..it’s feral cats!
