Adopting a pet from an animal shelter or a rescue group is a good idea. But what should you know about that animal shelter as you walk in the door, or that rescue as you go online? That's how I begin Steve Dale's Pet World on April 6 on WGN Radio (listen here or 720 AM), 1 p.m. CDT.
If you give up your pet, what will be that pet's outcome be? I believe it is written into law already (if not - in my opinion, it should be) that shelters and rescues can do as they believe is best. However, what if that facility instantly deems a dog a certain breed, and as a result that dog loses her life? Or that cat is called 'agressive' because after all, many cats are when they feel threatened. Can we do better? That's what Ledy VanKavage, senior legislative attorney at Best Friends Animal Society and Illinois State Representative Laura Fine will talk about. Rep. Fine has crafted a bill, which is still in development, and she wants to hear from you....What do you think?
Also, Animal News from Around the World about an amazing story of cat survival.
News about animal shelters and Chicago Animal Care & Control involving the Chicago Blackhawks.
I'll also have the latest on some raw pet food recalls, including Bravo! and BARF World. And the latest on Timmy (of "Lassie"-fame) coming to Chicago, at the Museum of Broadcast Communications.
