Radio Girl Margaret Larkin of WGN radio is the host of a series of podcasts. She interviews mostly people in the media.
And in THIS installment, she interviews me. I was honored....
I really don't talk very much about myself in interviews. I'd much rather talk about pets or pet behavior....Who am I really helping by talking about myself? And who cares?
But Margaret - for whatever the reason - felt my career and history is surprising....that at one time I reviewed restaurants; that I was a regular on a Wally Phillips program when he did a show remote from a restaurant; and my first job as a producer was for legendary Chicago radio personality Joel Sebastian and we did our show from a restaurant at O'Hare Airport....that I was the first to write about Oprah's dogs (guess that would figure) or was there for the first Animal Stories (as an intern at WLS Radio) with Uncle Lar' and Little Tommy. I hosted all sorts of radio shows over the years - various formats - various stations.
It was fun reminiscing, and thought I'd share the podcast with all of you....the three of you want to hear this sort of thing. No doubt my mom is one of them.
I believe good interviewers are good listeners, and Margaret is just that.
However, I am still waiting for the interview to end....she just stopped - it was over - no handshake or parting gift.....not even a see ya. I felt a little like a scorned lover. Listen to the end, and you'll hear what I mean. I was heartbroken, let at the alter or the microphone.
