Dogs playing Santa. Cats wearing reindeer antlers. Pets finely dressed for the holidays.
What can be more festive?
Welcome to the first annual Steve Dale’s Pet World “Let’s See What Your Pets Wear For The Howlidays” photo contest!
Here’s how it works: Pick out the best photo of your pet adorned or fully dressed in a holiday outfit and email it to me at email@example.com by 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12.
Only one entry per pet allowed.
Please include the name of the pet in the photo. Be advised that I will not be posting photos that include more than one pet in it.
Every nominee will be featured in a special blog post, and from that group I’ll select five amazing finalists who will be voted upon by Steve Dale’s Pet World readers (in other words - all of you) starting Dec. 14. The winner of the online vote will be named the Most Festive Pet!
I’ll interview the winner on my WGN Radio petcast (a podcast for pet lovers), and will make a contribution in that pet’s name to Tree House Humane Society in Chicago (specifically earmarked for the shelter's capital campaign for their new building).
All pets are eligible – so if you are inclined to dress up a hamster, cockatoo or lizard – have at it. Just remember, be fair to the animals. Photos will be judged on creativity, feeling of holiday spirit (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa – doesn’t matter) and most of all, fun.
Of course, there’s no fee to enter. And being a blog based in Chicago – as per the spirit of the City of Big Shoulders, you can vote early and often (and so can your pets).
So, start sending your photos right away! Happy holidays! This gallery offers some examples, and I bet you can do better....give it a go.
