Into Africa: Follow My Blog as I Meet Gorillas in Rwanda and View Kenyan Wildlife

Follow MY BLOG as I head into Africa.

First we come face to face with mountain gorillas - no bars, no glass between us.

These are the ancestors of the exact same gorilla families in Rwanda which Dian Fossey herself habituated. If you don't know Dian by name, you likely know the biopic movie "Gorillas in the Mist," which starred Sigourney Weaver.

From there, since we're in the neighborhood, we head to Kenya to view wildlife, from lion to cape buffalo, from giraffe to polar bears.

Well, not polar bears - just testing....

But we should certainly see elephants (as well as the dung beetle who clean up after them), snake eating secretary birds, various vulture species, cheetah and if we are lucky leopard. Much to report. When I return, I will offer a blog with photos. . .

Meanwhile, follow the trip with blogs - which I post here, called Into Africa.

Ask me questions, as I report live from Africa with Bill Moller on WGN Radio, September 8 at 10:30 AM CDT (720 AM).

I report live from Africa (again) with Bill Leff on WGN Radio, September 13, 1:05 AM CDT (720 AM).

Check out the WGN Radio Petcast with Dr. Mike Cranfield veterinary director of the Gorilla Project University of California Davis Wildlife Health Center, and Jed Chaddick, president of ECOTOURS.com.

  • Wow what a great opportunity. I'm really happy for you, Steve. You are much braver than I. I remember that video you posted here some time ago of the man who encountered an entire family of gorillas. I think I might have freaked! Can't wait to see your photos.
