I've been scooped at the box! I emceed the event - so I was certainly in attendance, still Conscious Cat blogger Ingrid King beat me...getting out the first overview on the Winn Feline Foundation 33rd Annual Feline Health Symposium.
The topic: Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), and the guest speaker/rock stars, Dr. Niels Pedersen of SOCK FIP and the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, director of the Center of Companion Animal Health; and Dr Al Legendre, professor of Internal Medicine & Oncology, University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.
The Symposium was held June 23 at the Hyatt Regency Reston - Town Center, Reston,VA.
Both Pedersen and Legendre are pioneers in veterinary research, and FIP in particular.
Check out Ingrid's blog for an overview.
I will soon have a feature story with more about what was announced, and explained, and a gallery of photos from the event. Also, you can be there. I exactly have a time machine to make that happen, but we will have audio from the event, and even the original slides. The Winn Feline Foundation will charge no free for this. You do need to give us some time to get this material on the web.
For the first time in a long time - call that time frame FOREVER - and finally now there may be some spark of hope for some FIP cats, especially those with dry (non effusive) FIP.
