Strutting for Cats

There are several dog walks - you take your pup and walk a distance, and raise money for a shelter. That's wonderful....But what about the cats???

The annual Stray Cat Strut on on June 4 at 10 a.m. and benefits the Tree House Humane Society. People strut their stuff - sometimes accompanied by cats in strollers or walking dogs - along a 5-mile walk. From the start in Uptown at Broadway and Carmen Avenue, mozying over to the the lakefront, and then back to 1212 W. Carmen where the walk began. Register online HERE.

Officially starting the strut will be 6-year old Mia Fritsch-Anderson, newly-crowned Little Miss Illinois 2011, cat cat lover. Here is your celebrity start power at work. TMZ will do doubt be covering this.

and attends Kindergarten in the Regional Gifted Center at Pritzker
Elementary School. She is the proud adoptive guardian of two Tree House
Humane Society cats

Tree House is a cageless and no kill shelter, one of the most respect all-cat shelters in the country. Tree House is also a Chicago leader when it comes to TNR (trap, neuter, return) of feral cats.

The $30 registration includes free fun, free exercise, and a free t-shirt designed by Anne Leuck Feldhaus.

It all depends on how fast you walk - but around 11:30 or noon - after the walk, refreshments served, and tours of the shelter, as well as various other activities.

All in all, what a great way to kick off the American Humane Association's Adopt-A-Cat month.
