Found Chicago Humane Awards: And the Winners Are

The first winner of the Chicago Humane Awards is you - if you attend the Found Chicago Humane Awards on January 22.

Mark Buehrle throws a no-hitter, but scores for animals

That's because you are then supporting an organization devoted to saving lives of homeless animals, many that have "issues," which other facilities will not take on. But this is what Found Chicago does.

I've worked on many initiatives together with Alderman Gene Schulter; you can thank him for helping to defeat breed bans, dogs dining outdoors and safe doggy day care facilities

The honorees are Mark Buerhle of the Chicago White Sox and his wife Jamie; 47th ward Alderman Gene Schulter and from the Animal Ark Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Derrek Landini and his wife Jennifer.

The emcee is Janet Davies of 190 North and WLS-TV. Nancy Faust, organist for the Chicago White will perform.

Dr. Derrick Landini and his wife Jennifer are what veterinary medicine is about contributing to the community in many ways. Jennifer was our dog Ethel's first dog-sitter. Jennifer loved Ethel, while Dr. Landini and I spoke on the air.

Tickets are $125, and will undoubtedly sell out - so now is the time.

The event is at 7 p.m. at 4130 N. Rockwell, Chicago. Food and drink included. I feel awful that I can not attend since I have a connection to so many being honored. My congratulations to Found Chicago, and to the honorees.
