With all the bad hype Pit Bulls get - let's be honest. They are dogs.
Generally, dogs do help us...save lives, even if it means giving up their own. Lassie was a Collie, but cold have been a Poodle, Pomeranian or even a Pit Bull.
This Pit Bull prevented a rape in Dover, Delaware on September 28. James B. Benson, 30, broke into a home of an 18 year old victim as she slept....Well, it turned out she wasn't actually a victim of as much as might have happened. He broke in, got away with no items, and his attempts to rape her were prevented by her Pit Bull.
As he physically began to accost her, she began to cry. That's when her dog stepped in, and Benson ran off. He was later apprehended, and charged with attempted first degree rape, and four other offenses.
The victim told police that Benson worked at the family business up until two weeks ago. The victim credited her dog with perhaps saving her life.
Benson was being held in Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna on $51,500 bail.

So who needs a gun in the house--just get a dog! Criminals often say they are less frightened of a homeowner with a gun than they are of a dog because the human will hesitate, but the dog goes for the jugular and isn't afraid of dying.
well, but bad guys carry guns these days - and often don't hesitate to shoot the dog....Having said that, you are right, the dog is certainly a deterrent.
Sad for the girl but I'm glad she had her dog there to help out. Just another reminder that Pit Bulls are exceptional animals. Sure there are some challenging ones out there but that is true for any breed. Hope the girl is OK.
