Remember, the tune Lake Shore Drive? This 1975 Chicago classic was a hit for Aliotta, Haynes and Jeremiah. This first few lines may jog your memory.
There's a road I'd like to tell you 'bout,
Lives in my hometown.
Lake Shore Drive the road is called,
And it'll take you up or down.
Skip Haynes happens to be HUGE animal lover, and has written several tunes now supporting pet adoption....
Well, he's now written (with me) an anthem for Chicago pet adoption, and for Dog Day on the Green, with proceeds of this tune (and others he's written) to support Safe Humane Chicago!
Safe Humane Chicago is dedicated to break the cycle of violence to animals (such as dogfighting) and violence to one another, it involves working with community partners to teach humane education in school, and various other programs including support of shelter adoption.
Haynes is scheduled to perform the tune live at Dog Day on the Green, which is August 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Montrose Harbor in Lincoln Park, near MonDog dog beach. The event, hosted by City Clerk Miquel Del Valle is free.
Download the tune Dog Day on the Green, and other Haynes songs to support animal welfare in Chicago, and come out and have fun at Dog Day on the Green.
