I was there when Chicago City Clerk Miquel Del Valle said last year, "Let's have a festival for dogs!"
And that's how Dog Day on the Green came about.
The event is Sunday, August 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Montrose Harbor, in Lincoln Park. And Dog Day on the Green is FREE!
wrote a song to his Lake Shore Drive music (hit song from the 1970's) for the Dog Day on the Green event, proceeds (when purchased online) will benefit Safe Humane Chicago. Skip will host a sing-a-long at 1 p.m.
Hawk City K-9 Agility with Stacey Hawk will offer agility demos, and your dog can navigate the course.
Miss Meowsky of Barker and Meowsky: A Paw Firm presents a swankly canine fashion show at 11:30 a.m.
John Garcia of Best Friends talks at 11 a.m. about the acclaimed TV show "Dog Town" on the National Geographic Channel.
Take a breath - Nicole Sopko and her best friend friend Maizy offer a giant Doga class - you and your dog can really do it doggy style, 10:30 a.m
Do you look like your dog? Or visa versa?
There's a human/canine look-a-like contest...If you have a stupid pet trick (or your dog does), we want to see that....Informaiton on dog licensing...And veterinarians and dog trainers will appear in the education tent to offer lots of information. Have a behavior question about your dog (or dare I say - cat), I can answer. WLS-AM is a sponsor, and I will be there as the emcee all day.
