Hot off the press! Feline Life Stage Guideliness from the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the American Animal Hospital Association. The idea for creating these Guidelines was inspired at a meeting of the CATalyst Council. Many supporters of CATalyst include the American Veterinary Medical Association, Society of Shelter Animal Welfare Administrators, American Humane Association, Winn Feline Foundation, Morris Animal Foundation, American College of Veterinary Behaviorists and many more.
The Guidelines are primarily geared to veterinary professionals, though still interesting for all cat lovers to read.Dr. Ilona Rodan, of Madison, WI, a Guideline co-char and past president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners says, "Our hope is veterinarians may now communicate consistent messages, based on what data we have, to clients concerning cat care throughout their lifetime." In fact, I am heading a group to write a version of similar Guidelines for consumers, due out sometime 2010. More on that to come. And since, I'm the dude in charge, you'll read it here first!
