For quite some time I’ve wanted to break into Chicago’s underground dining scene and was recently presented with the opportunity to cover an exclusive food and wine pairing event! The event was hosted by Rhône Valley Wines and Underground Eats and featured food from El Ideas Chef Phillip Foss and beverages from Rhône Valley Wines.
The secret location ended up being Signature Loft, in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. It is a beautiful indoor and outdoor loft space with exposed brick, gleaming hardwood floors and surprisingly features one of the most gorgeous views of the city skyline.
In my opinion El Ideas is one of the hottest restaurants in town and I was extremely excited when the four-course dinner began. The brainchild of Chef/Owner Phillip Foss, EL Ideas’ mission statement is to ‘redefine fine dining’. The tiny BYOB restaurant in Douglas Park encourages interaction between the chefs and diners, and it’s very common for guests to join the chefs in the kitchen during the meal to ask questions, take photos, and discuss trends.
