Last Thursday I got an invite to check out the Dana Hotel and Spa’s newly renovated Vertigo Sky Lounge on their rooftop. While I don't go to rooftop venues very often, my sister’s birthday seemed like the perfect occasion for this complimentary event.
The atmosphere at Vertigo was very friendly and relaxed during the happy-hour time period and the outdoor space had low couch seating which gave it a feel of openness and inclusiveness which I really enjoyed. One of the parts that remained unchanged from the remodel was that the bar had both indoor and outdoor space, which is absolutely crucial for its year-round outdoor status. I also loved their “fire and ice” pit that kept us warm throughout our cocktail sampling.
One of the coolest things about the new remodel is the new Bartender's Booth, which is like the cocktail fiends version of the foodie experience, the Chefs Table.” Like a Chefs Table, the Bartender's Booth will be a smaller exclusive table (6 seats) that will feature a nightly-changing tasting menu of different cocktails and menu samplings. Drinkers will have the opportunity to watch the bartender practice his/her craft close-up just like foodies get a glimpse behind the line in restaurants.
Dana Hotel’s Food & Beverage Director, Matt McCahill said Bartender Booth guests will be treated to off menu food & craft cocktails, uninterrupted city views, one on one service, and exclusive drink previews. I was also pleased to learn that Vertigo Sky Lounge will also be unveiling personal chef tastings and craft cocktail demonstrations and classes as part of their new programming.
While I was there, my sister and I sampled the following from that evenings Bartender’s Booth menu (see below for the ingredients). We both loved the 5th course the best, the sweet combo of coconut milk, rum and coffee tasted like a grown-up version of the mudslide! I'll definitely be back to see what else they have up their sleeve once it gets warmer out!
