This week has just been chock-full of fun culinary events, and I have one more to share that you won't want to miss, or at least I don't want you to miss it.
Early this week I shared a post about The Chicago Sausage Experiment taking place this Sunday at Bottom Lounge in Chicago from 1:00-4:00pm. Although I won't be able to participate in that competition, Chef Theo Peck invited me to personally compete against him at the precursor event called the Supermarket Showdown. It will take place on this Saturday, June 9th from 12:00-2:00pm at Mariano's Fresh Market, near the AON Center.
I was challenged with coming up with a dish that includes the not-so-secret showdown ingredient, BEER, it is of course sponsored by the Brooklyn Brewery! After pooling some family and friends I came up with the perfect bite...but you won't know what it is until the event, after all, I can't give all my secrets away.
Being a marathon runner you'd think that a little bit of competition wouldn't scare me, but I'm a little bit nervous since this is my very first cooking competition EVER! I'd love it if all my foodie fans would be able to come out and try a bite of what I'll be making! I'm sure Theo's dish will not disappoint either, and who doesn't like when beer is involved in cooking?!
The Supermarket Showdown usually features a local amateur chef or blogger in each city where the Food Experiment's take place. I was lucky enough that Theo chose me. He is a super talented Chef, having worked throughout NYC for some of the most well-known Chefs in the country and is known as the "King of the Cookoff".
Hopefully you'll be able to join me as I ascend to culinary glory...
