Gourmet Mexican-Fish Tacos

For those of you who follow my blog you know that I have a small obsession with fish tacos.

Now that I've successfully tried almost every fish taco Chicago has to offer I decided to give it a whirl and try creating my own fishy masterpiece.

First I created a delectable mango salsa and a Mexican "crema" to go along with the cod I had in my freezer. I picked up some corn tortillas and cojita cheese and I was good to go! The most time consuming part of the recipe was frying (I'm not even sure if I'd call it that), the fish. Being that I don't fry many foods I was little inexperienced and probably could have cooked this a little more efficiently. Maybe its a good thing me or the boy don't really know how to fry...that could lead to a very bad habit haha.

Fish Tacos:
corn tortillas (as many as you like)
crumbled cojita cheese
white fish filets- I used cod for this recipe
1/2 cup flour
seasoning to your taste

Mango salsa:
dash of hot sauce
1 mango
3/4 red pepper
1/2 large red onion
1/2 lime (the juice)
chopped cilantro (to taste)

Mexican Crema (from Tyler Florence's Ultimate Fish Taco Recipe)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup of mayo
2 chipotles in adobo
1 teaspoon of adoba sauce
1/8 lemon juiced
salt and pepper to taste

  • I too am obsessed with fish tacos! Had some at Mo's Cantina earlier today (Kinzie) and they were so bland and blah. I was so disappointed because I was so excited about them!
