Man, check out all those hits we're getting on our blog! Damn.
But I digress.
The 2011 and 2012 schedules came out...take a look. I don't have enough room to post them here.
2011 is no surprise, and in fact, it's pretty damn easy. I mean, Army? Come on, they haven't been good since the Bobby Ross era (it's all relative, they went 9-25 under him). By the way, Bobby Ross WAS the Detroit Lions. Now they're just a bunch of misfit toys. Bring back Bobby Ross!
Eastern Illinois will be no cupcake. Something in my magic 8-ball tells me that will turn into a New Hampshire-like game against the Fighting Shanahans and Romos.
Oh, then we get to play Rice again later in the season, but at least we don't have the "privilege" of going down to their dump of a stadium with two concession stands, 5,000 rabid (it's all relative) fans, and an Otis elevator from the LBJ administration. Instead we get to play them in our stadium with 10 CONCESSION STANDS (that are already out of hot dogs), 5,000 rabid fans, and a real elevator.
However, we start the year on Chestnut Hill against the school of the girl you see at the top. Now, I have officially said that next year, Boston College is a business trip for me, if you know what I mean. Playing an ACC opponent is always a challenge, just look at Duke the last few times we've played them, and they SUCK! So, Boston College is going to be tough, just throwin' it out there.
Now, on to the 2012 schedule, which could turn out to be about as friendly as my ex-girlfriend. First three games: AT Syracuse, vs. Vandy, vs. BC. Is this like the Forbes College Rankings Cup or something?
We should all be thankful Fitz is finally taking his team to play some legitimate BCS conference teams. This isn't like playing Florida and Virginia Tech or anything, but it's a step in the right direction. Even South Dakota, who we also play, could be difficult. In order for Northwestern to become a legitimate national title contender like Fitz wants, they need to play a real schedule. They need to beat the big boys. They need to show the country - high school players, high school coaches, and all of those morons who steer the top players to the top schools, that Northwestern is a place to win championships.
But first, one step at a time, let's win a damn bowl game.
