Evan announced in a Matt Lauer interview on the Today Show, that due to the nature of the injury & despite two months of aggressive treatment on his injured hip, he was informed by doctors that he risked permanent injury if he persisted. In a press release Evan Stated, “Words cannot describe how disappointed I am to not be able to compete in Sochi. The proudest moments of my life have been representing the United States in the last two Winter Olympics. I have suffered numerous injuries over the course of my skating career, and they are some of the hardest things an athlete has to overcome. While none of my past injuries have sidelined me quite like this one, I remain determined to regain my health and skate again.”
It's been quite a ride Evan! 1st seeing you as a 10yr old & watching you win everything in skating. Knowing this day was coming doesn't make it any easier, You've given it everything you've got trying to get to Solchi to defend your Olympic figure skating gold, & trying to overcome the injury & bad fall over these last months.
Bravo to you, Evan Lysacek-- RAISE A GLASS!
