It never fails-- Every fall I see so many HS runners who are trucking away on concrete sidewalks-- THE WORST SURFACE!
Any other surface, grass, asphalt, trails - all are far more shock absorbing than concrete
So many running related overuse injuries, feet, shins, knees, & back are aggravated by these unyielding surfaces.
Of course, we don't want kids running in traffic BUT there are plenty of side roads, neighborhoods etc. that could be used.
Hey coaches,-- get these runners off those concrete sidewalks. You'll reduce overuse injuries impressively.
