Ticketmaster alerted me to the fact that Bob Mould is going to play at The Montrose Room at the Intercontinental Hotel in Rosemont on October 23rd. This is great news on many levels. Watching Bob play the guitar on stage is a sight to be seen. The best part, a part that as I get older and older I notice more, is the show is on a Saturday night! I don't see where it is explained in detail if this will be an acoustic show (like the one he is playing the night before at The Old Town School of Folk Music) or plugged in. I do see a trend with bands playing a show in the city of Chicago and finding a venue out in the suburbs because there is enough music loving fans in Chicagoland to fill both.
Bob Mould has had a incredible career under several guises such as Husker Du and Sugar, as well as a very fruitful solo career. I have only enjoyed watching him bending strings plugged into an electrifying stack of amps.
Has anyone seen Bob Mould play acoustic? Has anyone seen a show at The Montrose Room? In the press release they list their venue as the "Park West-west."
