One of the key steps to attaining any goal is remaining motivated. Staying motivated keeps you on pace for reaching your goals. Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. Life circumstances and stresses can impact your motivation. Also, not having realistic goals can steal motivation. It will be very difficult for you to lose 10 pounds in one week or start training for a marathon on Wednesday to run on Sunday.
Motivation is personal. What motivates one person may not work for someone else. I am motivated to go to the gym because I get a refund based on the number of visits. Another person may not find the refund a motivation. Purchasing new workout gear may motivate them to go to the gym.
If you feel you need motivation to achieve a goal. Ask yourself why the goal is important to you. Then create a plan for achieving your goal. Be willing to make adjustments if necessary. Do not be afraid or ashamed to ask for help. Find others who have accomplished the same goal and listen to their story. You may be amazed to hear the pitfalls they had to overcome to achieve success. Take small steps and reward yourself for each accomplishment. Continually remind yourself why your goal is important to you. Visualize your success. Do not get discouraged because you feel things should happen faster. Forgive yourself if you have a bad day. Try to be around positive people who will encourage you.
Find the motivation tools that work for you and incorporate them into your life.
