Have a Team

Getting fit and healthy can be a difficult challenge. It can be especially difficult if you try it alone. There is a term that “no man is an island.” This is the theory that people do poorly when separated from others and need to be part of a community in order to flourish. I believe this is especially true when it comes to our health and wellbeing. Sometimes we need encouragement or to be congratulated for a job well done. Most of us are wired that way.

We know there are numerous benefits to our body when we eat healthy and exercise. However, there are times when we need motivation. Having people remind us of the benefits of living healthy or seeing people push toward their goals can be very helpful.

If you do not have health partners there are a number of organizations geared toward fitness and health you can join. For instance, there is GirlTrek. This is a national organization that encourages women to live a healthy lifestyle. A number of women from my church are members and they enjoy it. If you are a social media person there is the Femme Fitale Fit Club. Here women share their struggles and success with weight loss. I like reading the stories and seeing the pictures that people post. I am not trying to recruit for either of these organizations I am using them as examples.

Whether you want to join a group through social media or find one where you physically meet with people; there are a lot of organizations available. You can Google and find the right group for you. Joining a group will give you an opportunity to meet new people, share experiences and receive information. If you join a group and find out it is not what you expected you could quit. You can really be daring and create your own group. The goal is to find a path to help you succeed in your journey for health and fitness. There is a benefit to having someone hold you accountable or encourage you when you need it.
