The Cuban Comet is a biographical documentary that follows the life and career of Orestes "Minnie" Miñoso, MLB's first Afro-Latino baseball player and the first black player to suit up for the Chicago White Sox.
With a professional career that spanned seven decades and four leagues, "The Cuban Comet" left his mark on baseball from Havana to Chicago. SoxNet editor Daniel Shapiro explores Minoso's life and career in a celebration of one of baseball's overlooked trailblazers.
A Kickstarter for the film will be posted in the coming days.
The documentary will be produced by Method M Films, the film company based out of the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism at the Missouri School of Journalism.
