In preparation for the upcoming White Sox season, I have decided upon something truly insane. Starting today and following through Opening Day, I’ll be blogging each day about the Sox, twenty five posts in all. Short of the dissertation, it is probably the largest writing project I have attempted, not so much the word count or eventual length, but the attempt at a daily task. I don’t know if I’ve written every day for the better part of a month, maybe, but it has been a while. Most of the time, the posts will be a preview for the upcoming season sometimes it will be the general musings that populate this site regarding baseball and life. I’m not the biggest stat cruncher analysis guy, though I like the numbers a bit, but more on that later which is bound to annoy a few folks (probably tomorrow’s post!)
The general rules, at least of right now, one post each day until April 1 of at least 300 words, at the very least related to baseball and more often than not, the White Sox. I am excited and a little terrified. I still have to work, take care of the house, the kids and get my exercise in as well. I also am working on a podcast these days that is going remarkably well, all things considered. I still have a few issues I want to work out before I share it on this blog, but when I feel it is ready for the ChicagoNow market place, you’ll be the first to know. I also plan on keeping up with Game of Thrones again, perhaps a little better than last year. Those reviews can be found on the Kaufmak site. I’ll be reviewing the final three episodes from Season 2 leading up to the 3/31/13 premiere of season three to kind of get in the mood.
I’d like to answer couple of questions at the very least for myself; first, why? Well why not? No really. I’ve been in a pretty good space with writing and such things even if my output has been a little low. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I FEEL like writing even if not much is getting out to the reading public. So here goes nothing. Second, why 25? At first I thought I’d preview each player on the opening day roster, but let’s face it, I have no desire to write blog post about each and every bullpen arm and bench player. I’ll do player previews, but I’ll be sticking with the projected starting line-up and starting pitchers, maybe the closer, but I doubt that. After those, or along with the previews, various other posts will certainly appear. Of course if you have any ideas, by all means share. I’ve got a feeling there will be days when nothing is coming, so any input would be great. Huh. Just like that, one down and 24 to go.
