I wrote about a tour of the Southeast Lake Calumet region of the city on my last blog entry and I had registered for it. When I called to get more details of where we were to meet, I was informed that the tour had been cancelled because there had not been enough interest in it. I had a nice talk with the person from the Southeast Development Task Force about their tours and we were both disappointed that people do not seem interested in the ecological plans and progress being made in that area. She assured me that otter tours they offer, particularly one of the Deep Tunnel were well attended, so I will write about those as they come up.
I also saw that the new Alderman of the 7th Ward was holding an Open House of her office on Sunday. I wasn't able to attend but I sent an email to Natashia L. Holmes asking her to keep me informed of her plans and offering to work with her. We need to get our neighbors working together to improve conditions here and recreate a new reputation for this part of the city. The Alderman's office is at 2459 E. 75th Street and is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. On the third Mondays she will hold Constituent Night Hours from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Her phone number is (773) 731-7777 and her fax is (773) 731-5540.
