Worth the Drive: Tribes Alehouse

I’m sure that so far most of the people that read this blog, are my family and friends. Most of whom either live down here or used to, so I might be telling you something you already know. However, I thought it might be nice to feature different establishments that are South of I-80 that I would consider Worth the Drive no matter where you live in Chicagoland.

First up is Tribes Alehouse located at Lincoln Highway and Route 30 in Mokena. Tribes has become a favorite hang out for many of my friends and family due to its superb selection of Craft Beer on tap. I am not a Craft Beer expert, but I must say it feels like a luxury to walk into a place that has a choice of over 45 different beers on tap on any given day. For those who aren’t beer drinkers (I don’t know anyone, but just in case), the food there is also worth the drive.

I would describe the fare as classic pub with a twist. My favorite thing on the menu lately is the mushroom swiss burger, which has the option to be on a pretzel roll. In addition, all the burgers on the menu can be made with the meat of your choice (chicken, turkey, beef, bison) which, I think, is a nice touch. Some other favorites are the Reuben and the aged cheddar and pancetta mac and cheese.

The atmosphere is cozy and conducive to an after work beer, or a place to meet friends for dinner. My hubby and I have enjoyed a few date nights there, and it has become a weekly hang out for some pals.

I don’t know about you, but I would drive 45 minutes for a great beer and burger. For more information on Tribes Alehouse, click here. Also, for those that have no idea where Mokena is, there is a location opening in Tinley Park.

Just a side note. I am not perked in any way to share any of these South side locations, just sharing all the gems that exist down here.
