How to Wear Color in the Office

This spring and summer, bright colorful denim was everywhere. This trend is fun and worthy of a second glance, but can you wear it at the office?

The answer may depend on where you work. A fun, creative office environment may encourage the bright, vivid colors. A traditional office? Maybe not.

Well, this week I want to look at how to wear color in the office because…color is still on trend for fall.

I have a few strategies for wearing colorful pants and skirts to the office:

  1. Pair them with traditional pieces: blouses, sweaters.
  2. Pair them with neutral colors: black, brown, white/ivory, navy.

I wanted to give you an example of wearing color in the office, so for this look, I chose a fall color: mustard yellow.

First, I chose a pencil skirt, which is a super professional piece. I just happened to choose it in a rich mustard color. Then, I paired the mustard yellow piece with a neutral top and boots.

Would you wear color in the office? How would you style a mustard yellow pencil skirt?
