How to Style Your Summer Dress through Fall, Part II

On Monday, I showed you how to take your summer dress from summer to fall when the weather hasn't really cooled off yet. But, as we know in Chicago, you never know what the weather might do.

Today, I want to show you the same summer dress for slightly cooler weather.

Style #2:

For this look, I added a basic layer. This could easily be done with a cardigan or a jacket, but I chose a pale pink button-up for several reasons. 1) A button-up is professional, but tied in front, it is also playful and fun. 2) The button-up is a little more unexpected than a cardigan or jacket. 3) The tied button-up gives definition to my body shape; whereas, a cardigan might not flatter my un-curves. 4) Feminine colors are all the rage right now, so a pale pink shirt is the perfect addition for a fall look.

How would you layer over {or under} a basic summer dress?

This week, I'm styling this 1 dress 3 different ways, so check out Monday's post {the basic summer dress meets fall colors} and come back on Friday to see a final way to make this summer dress work in fall weather.
