As someone that loves anything and everything black, I get really excited by all the red, white and blue for the 4th of July! This has always been a holiday I looked forward to. When I was growing up, I would go to the Evanston 4th of July Parade with my mom and dad, and one of our closest family friends to watch their father, (grandfather/great grandfather) The "General," walk the parade in his uniform. We would then go back to their house for a bbq and it was great family time.
Now that I've got a house, it's time to start looking at collecting my own décor. I was recently in Target looking for something completely different, but found they had some really cute items for the 4th. So, as Target runs usually (always?!) do, I came out with many things I hadn't planned on.
I used a simple table runner as the backdrop for my tableau, and then added the necessities - candles, paper plates and napkins, tumblers that can easily be reused, and a cute pillow to make things a bit more cozy.
Are you having a bbq this weekend? Send me your photos of what you're making and how you're decorating! You can tweet me your photos @lucyrk78
