Here's Why YOU Can't Find a Good Man
Shemeka Michelle explains why some women are single. (Posed by models).

You don’t have to be a Star Baby!

I think every single person should have a list. This list should include at least five must haves in a relationship, five things that would be nice but aren’t necessary and five deal breakers. This list would be a constant reminder and serve as a guide to keep one from waking up and asking the question “How did I get here?”

I am really tired of hearing women complain about not being able to find a good man.

Perhaps women can’t find or be found by a good man because they aren’t really open to receiving a good one!

Before you curse and move on to reading something that makes you feel good, think about this for just a moment. If you are always mesmerized by superficial things, why are you surprised when superficiality is all you receive?  If six figures, a nice car and flashy clothes are what move you, you’ll continually be distracted and never find that deep connection that you claim to be looking for.

In the 80s, R&B singer Gwen Guthrie sang, “Ain’t Nothing Going On But the Rent.” Well, that’s going on over here too, along with college tuition, car insurance, cell phone bills, grooming needs, children and the list goes on.

However, experience has taught me that money can’t buy happiness. I’ve already had the relationship with a flashy, materialistic Puff Daddy wanna be! Yes, I’ve been there, wrote a blog about it and that’s not what I’m looking for anymore. A man with money is actually on my “would be nice but not necessary list.” Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want a bum, but there is so much more to a good man than his paycheck. There is so much more to me than bills.

Although I’m not a fan of off-brands, I’m not impressed with the man that determines his worth by the material things he owns. Therefore, there’s no need to rev your engine at the stoplight because I really can’t tell a Bentley from a Chrysler 300. As long as your shoes are clean, I couldn’t care less whether or not they match your outfit. Of course I’d be lying if I pretended I was completely evolved. I too have my hang ups like crooked top teeth, taco meat for chest hair and any man shorter than I am. No, standing on a stack of cash doesn’t make you taller! Nevertheless, other than those few superficial things, I’m really interested in a man’s character and integrity. I love the simple things in life. I don’t care about money, power or fame. I’m satisfied with just a GOOD man. Today’s PSA is, “You don’t have to be a star baby to be in my show!”

About Shemeka Michelle: "I was that chick. Gave it all up, all of it. I put all my eggs in one basket. Didn’t have a plan B ‘cause I believed in plan A. Then one day, all of it came to an end. All I could do was take it. I’m a survivor with 3 kids I HAD to make it! So instead of dying from pain and hiding in shame, I’ve decided to get NAKED." www.nakedgirlzblog.com
