From the Chicago Tribune: Police found Leonore Draper, 32, shot in the chest and arm in a parked car near her home in the 11600 block of South Laflin Street in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side at about 10:35 p.m., (Friday) about 30 minutes after the fundraiser she went to was over. She was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 12:32 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Leonore was one of Jocelyn Delk-Adams' close friends, and the two were together earlier that fateful night.  Jocelyn has committed to remember her friend and help the Draper family; she pens her plans below.

Thank you so much for your concern and prayers during this difficult time.

On Friday, April 25th, we lost the life of Leonore Draper (affectionately known as Lee). She was one of my best friends.  Today we stand in unity against this awful epidemic of violence that is taking over the streets of Chicago. This is only the beginning. Lee was a fighter and we are taking action. Join the #BrightLight campaign by posting this orange image as your social media profile.

We picked this color because of it's significance to Lee. She was a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and for Project Orange Tree, a teen-run non-profit put together to help end the city's structural causes of gun violence.  Both organizations champion the color orange & we will have our orange candles burn a bright light as we honor Lee and all lives stolen from their communities too soon.

On Friday, May 2, 2014, at 10:00pm right in the very place Leonore was shot, the Draper family will be holding a candle light vigil in honor of Lee. The address is 11601 South Laflin. We are asking everyone to bring an orange candle to this event. We picked this color because Lee was a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Project Orange Tree, a non-profit organization that was put together to shed a light on the issue of gun violence. There will be police presence at the vigil.

If you cannot make it to the vigil, we ask that you join in by lighting a candle, snapping a photo and adding to your social media networks of (Instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook) using the Hashtag #BrightLight.

We are raising funds to support the MS Foundation, Project Orange Tree (youth anti-violence organization) and memorial costs for the Draper Family. Please donate at leonore.eventbrite.com.  So please spread the word!!

Thank you again for your continued support.
