I am so excited that the Six Brown Chicks were invited by the University of Arkansas to participate in Dream B.I.G., (Believing In Girls).
We are rolling up our sleeves and preparing to empower the village of 50 teen girls who are our future. Recently, the Six Brown Chicks and our beloved correspondents, Sylvia, LaToya and LaRay, met with Dr. Ian Smith to discuss his hot new health book, SHRED. (Video to come!)
After our interview, Dr. Smith relayed a special message to the 50 teen girls who will participate in the Dream B.I.G. (Believing in Girls) camp next week.

Our teens deserve to realize their dreams and as a mom of two girls, I know how important DREAMS are!
Dreams are the visions that lead to passion and passion leads to purpose.
We are not encouraging our youth to color outside of the lines, create their own destinies or to Dream BIG.
Looking at what's happening to our youth: Diminishing after-school programs, and prisons that are being built to accommodate the fallen, makes me ask, what's important now? What can we do to encourage our teens and let them know that we love them, and that we believe in them?
I remember growing up we lived in a neighborhood where everyone knew and spoke to each other. The block club was, in fact, a block club.
We had a neighborhood candy house where we could safely shop for our sweet treats. The adults looked out for us, it was safe to play outside, and we felt protected. Unfortunately, this is not the neighborhood that some of us live in anymore. These neighborhoods are now been rife with crack houses, or the nonchalant neighbors who want you to stay out of their business, even if you are concerned about the welfare of their children.
We all ask what can we do to make it better, and we really want to know.
I believe that it starts with DOING; then sacrificing and then DOING some more to restore, rebuild, replace, replenish our children, their hopes and more importantly, their dreams.
Today, encourage your children and someone else's children to DREAM BIG! BE willing to help them cultivate their vision, restore their passion and help them to fuel their purpose by encouraging creativity.
