Just who in the hell do you think you are?

Just who in the hell do you think you are?

On your journey to better yourself you may discover that not everyone wants you to succeed. If you're going through this, I've penned this poem for you.

By Zondra Hughes

Just Who in the Hell do you think you are?

Just who in the hell do you think you are?

Like you're somebody special...or a star.

How dare you make a proclamation

of your emancipation

from "toxic folks who can't get a clue."

So, who are you calling 'toxic?'

Nowadays it's you who throw shade.

Like you've got it made, or like you're free from strife.

How dare you fix your life

...and put your focus back on you.

How dare you act so selfishly

...After all we've been through.

Just who in the hell do you think you are?

Like you're somebody special...or a star.

How dare you lose weight

...And refuse to hate

So, now, you're too good to talk about ole' girl like we used to?

Or gripe about no-good men...hold up, is that your new boo?

When did that happen? Better yet, how?

Where were you standing to catch a man like that, you lucky cow?

I recall the days when the only thing you could catch was the flu.

Between us, we'll always know that truth.
Just who in the hell do you think you are?

Just who in the hell do you think you are?

Like you're somebody special...or a star.

Well, keep it moving then, and I hope you go far. Surprised? Don't be.

I'll wish you the best publicly, while I pray for your downfall privately.

Why? Because I'm your frenemy. I am:

Someone to pull your coattail

Someone to keep your ego in check

Someone to keep tabs on you

Someone to spend your money

Someone to tell your business

Someone to sex your lover

Someone to stab you in the back

Someone to waste your time

Someone to make you doubt yourself

Someone to make certain that you don't go too far

Someone to show you that you're not a star...no matter who in the hell you think you are.
