Love's Got a Hold on Shoya: She's Engaged!

By Zondra Hughes

It was a magical night for Six Brown Chick Shoya Bowman.

Her play, "Love's Got A Hold On Me," now in its second year, played to a sold-out crowd at the Harold Washington Cultural Center in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood.

As Shoya thanked her supporters, and her stellar cast, she paused to thank her man Tony Motown Allen.

Allen calmly crossed the stage  and got on bended knee. "Will you marry me?"

Shoya screamed, and Tony put a ring on it.

Congratulations on a job well done with your play, and congratulations on your future life as Mrs. Shoya Bowman-Allen.

Thanks mom that was an incredible night and the start of something big. I'm so happy our family is welcoming Shoya with open arms and I'm getting the same thing from Shoya's family. If the engagement went this good, you can only imagine how the wedding is going to be.
And thank you Zondra for taking some wonderful pictures and doing this blog for Shoya. We appreciate it. I’m sure we will have more Kodak moments between now and the wedding ;)
