8 Summer Beauty Tips to Try right NOW
By Courtney Waldon
Winter is over, Spring has sprung, and if you're like me....you're ready for Summer!
Summer where I'm from (Chicago) is full of outdoor festivals, food, concerts and gorgeous weather. We definitely have to look our best while we enjoy all these events, so here are 8 quick beauty tips to get you right for Summer.
1. Less is More. - The highlighting and contouring trend is still alive and well. And while I love it, it has it's place and Summer is not it. You do not want to cake on a ton of product on your skin during the humid summer months. I suggest evening the skin tone with a light tinted moisturizer or CC cream, and using a bronzer with a little shimmer for a subtle highlight. Only place highlighter on the high planes of your face i.e; cheekbones, brow bone, forehead, center of face. My picks to get this look: Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer w/SPF, Mary Kay's CC Cream w/SPF, Mary Kay Bronzer in Medium/Dark, or MAC Cosmetics Bronzer in Soft and Gentle.
2. Skin is in!- If you love Full coverage foundation, try a medium coverage. It will still cover imperfections, but let's your skin show through just a bit.
3. SPF! - SPF should be your BFF. EVERYONE needs Spf no matter what the skin tone, especially during the summer months when we are outside more and baring a little more skin. Wearing sunscreen is proven to prevent melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma; two types of skin cancer. Apply it prior to going out into the sun and reapply throughout the day. Always protect your skin. I repeat...EVERYONE needs SPF! My faves: MD Solar Science Mineral Tinted Cream w/SPF 30, Mary Kay Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50.
